  15. High School Exam Scam

  17. <p>    For high school students in New York State, the Regents
  18. exams are a crucial rite of passage: doing well greatly
  19. improves their chances of getting into college. Last week
  20. thounsands of students learned that much of their cramming would
  21. go to waste, when the New York Post splashed the answer sheet
  22. to the Regents chemistry exam across its front page. An angry
  23. state education commissioner, Thomas Sobol, postponed the test.
  24. </p>
  25. <p>    The Post claimed that thousands of bootleg copies of answers
  26. to various Regents exams were being sold for as much as $2,000
  27. a copy. A reporter was able to obtain the chemistry answer sheet
  28. in 15 minutes by placing two telephone calls. This was not the
  29. first case of exam scam. A former yeshiva student was recently
  30. arrested for selling copies of tests last year. If convicted,
  31. he could be sentenced to twelve years in prison.
